Mid South Eastern premierships decided

Junior Colts football – Kongorong V Glencoe

Kongorong and Glencoe went hard at it right from the first bounce, but Declan Richardson’s best-on-ground efforts put the Murphies on the back foot early.

The game turned into a dog fight after quarter time as Glencoe led by Tighe Hurley and Kallan Price narrowed the gap to just one kick with a quarter to go.

Tensions were high in the scoring struggle, but the Hawks snuck over the line by scoring the only three behinds registered for the entire final term.

It was sweet relief for Kongorong securing back to back flags after a nail-biting four-quarter scrap.

Senior Colts football – Hatherleigh V Robe

Abattle royale as on with Robe going for back-to-back premierships, while Hatherleigh hunted for glory.

Play was even through the tough first half with both sides taking some heavy hits but the Eagles opened a 12-point advantage at half time.

The Roosters had most of the play in the third quarter through Jimmy Murch and Oliver Haggett but could not convert in front of goal as Hatherleigh extended its lead.

Although the Eagles were held scoreless through the last quarter they still held on for the win thanks to Joel Smith, Ethan Leopold and Zak Bowering while Robe named and Mason McKenny.

Reserves football – Hatherleigh V Kalangadoo

The battle of the birds was a hard-fought contest and it was the Eagles that got their prey in a two-point nail biting affair.

Hatherleigh as the only team to trouble the scorers in the low-scoring first quarter, but the play was a lot better after the break as the conditions settled.

Kalangadoo found another gear in the last quarter and took it right up to Hatherleigh and pushed them to the limits with pressure at the contest.

After a tense 10 minutes of play in the final term the Eagles flew high and scored their fourth win in a row.

Named the best for the premiers were Cameron Slape, Max Telfer and Ethan Bowman while for Kalangadoo Dallas Jeffree, Nathan Reeves and Joshua Searle performed.

13 and Under netball – Port MacDonnell v Kalangadoo

Port MacDonnell took an early lead in the first quarter forcing Kalangadoo to play catch up netball with goal attack Bailee Lewis a focal point all day.

Lucy Egan moved into the Magpies’ shooting circle and made an impact, but Demons defenders Chelsea Fulham and Layla McPherson applied defensive pressure to stay in front.

In the second half, Kalangadoo lifted, but it battled to combat the height and physical strength of the Demons who won the game by nine goals.

15 and Under netball – Kalangadoo v Robe

The 15 and Under grand final match between Kalangadoo and Robe was a game of the elements with thunder, lightning, hail and a glimmer of sunshine.

The Roosters had a good start but the Magpies applied intense pressure all over the court led by Chloe Peacock.

Kalangadoo led by 10 goals and never looked back, increasing the margin at every break.

The Roosters worked hard but the Magpies were just too strong and tall finishing undefeated for the season winning the game 61-18.

17 and Under netball – Mount Burr v Robe

Both teams started strong in what was an unpredictable game with intensity and aggression.

Mount Burr was consistent with turnovers making it hard for Robe shooters Ella Mackey and Sienna Brooks, but they shot strong in the awful weather.

Mozzies’ shooters Faith McKenzie and Jasmine Holland worked well to help their team win an exciting final 26-23.

B Reserve netball – Kalangadoo v Mount Burr

With both teams working hard for possession in the goal circle a tight B Reserve decider was on the cards.

Jodi Greenwood was the focal point in the Kalangadoo circle but Mount Burr’s Faith McKenzie took some fantastic pressure passes.

The Magpies defence in Emma Mules and Gemma Box made it difficult for Mount Burr to get an easy pass into the circle.

The wet and windy conditions made it difficult to pass the ball accurately so it turned into a game of possession.

Despite Georgia Lambert and Bec Fox worked tirelessly to try to stem the flow into the Kalangadoo goal circle, the Mozzies could not mount a comeback.

The Magpies easily completed a 42-27 win with Greenwood leading the way.

B Grade netball – Glencoe v Kalangadoo

Glencoe came out firing in the first quarter however Kalangadoo pegged its way back to level the scoreboard at quarter time.

There were a lot of goals missed by both teams in the second quarter, but the Murphies were still able to open a small lead.

Kalangadoo’s defence in Emily Mulraney and Kylie Schulz turned over numerous balls but were unable to capatilise.

Glencoe was in control in the second half led by Chloe Watson to complete the 15-goal win.

A Reserve netball – Kalangadoo v Robe

Kalangadoo and Robe faced off in the A Reserve Grand Final on a puddle-filled court.

Magpies’ goal shooter Maddy Bonanno shot with accuracy throughout the game and combined well with goal attack Estella Serle.

Roosters Kimberley Austin and Hannah Perkins fought hard to create turnovers, forcing errors for the Kalangadoo shooters, but the black and white maintained their lead.

Kim Ross and Jamie Ryan fought hard through the midcourt for their respective teams in an evenly fought third term.

Kalangadoo defenders Shanen Pulkkinen and Shanae Neale combined well to put the pressure on Robe to re-establish the lead and seal the six-goal win.
