Danny Brown has claimed the chequered flag first in this year’s Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro 400, ahead of fast-finishing placegetters.
Brown’s Number 42 car crossed the line first in Sunday’s main race, closely followed by Greg Gartner some seconds behind with Brent Martin finishing in third place.
The event started on Saturday morning with the weather and track conditions looking supreme, promising a cracker race.
Each competitor was tasked with completing four laps of the short course, however some did not make the distance due to mechanical failures with some of the contenders experiencing issues being Aaron and Liz Haby with engine trouble, while Bryan Jones also has engine malfunctions along with John Alfred and Kurt Stephan.
It was back to the pits for those entrants to sort out their issues in a bid to get back out on track for the long haul of Sunday’s racing.
For those left in the running it was an intense battle, with drivers trying to find the right line on the track to achieve the fastest time.
Tyler Owen and Oliver Stephens claimed the honour crossing the line 11 seconds in front of Martin and Ande de Simone, with Greg Gartner and Jamie Jennings a further six seconds behind despite recording the quickest lap time of the day.
Local Jake England secured the win in Class 2 with a solid drive and another to do well was Heath Weedon in his Nissan Patrol.
Sunday’s racing took place in the Tantanoola forest on an arduous and demanding track destined to test drivers’ wits and abilities.
Competitors were challenged with six laps of the course to be driven over a series of time intervals with the final lap inside the Teagle quarry.
As the racing heated up several vehicles succumbed to engine trouble, losing front ends and wheels, unable to finish the circuit.
Late in the afternoon the racing heated up with crowds waiting on the quarry bank for the action to enter the main arena as Brown entered first closely followed by Gartner in tow some seconds behind, with Martin in third.
Committee member Mark Heemskerk was full of praise for the event, which attracted a good crowd and great weather.
