Millicent police officer in charge Rick Errington was officially presented with his Australian Police Medal on Tuesday by Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia the Honorable Frances Adamson.
The medal was announced in the King’s Birthday Honours in June and recognised decades of community and police service by Senior Sergeant First Class Errington.
Looking on at the Government House ceremony were various dignitaries including Police Commissioner Grant Stevens, armed forces representatives and members of Sgt Errington’s family.
Her Excellency has presided over a number of investiture ceremonies at Government House in Adelaide this week.
During these ceremonies, Her Excellency presents people who have been recognised through the Australian honours and awards system with the insignia of their award.
The ceremonies, which include each individual’s citation being read as they step forward to be recognised by Her Excellency, are a celebration of the contribution, achievement and service of outstanding
Australians.
The breadth of endeavour is remarkable, and ranges from service to medicine and health, the arts, local endeavours, international relations, sport, and much more.
Recipients are selfless, have not sought recognition, and have made a difference.
