Model turns heads at Adelaide competition

Mount Gambier model Brooke Holmes is on the path towards making her modelling dreams a reality, winning the Country Girl Management Award at the “Redefined” Country Girl Management event in Adelaide.

Ms Holmes was crowned the “Warrior Queen” and will head to Sydney in January to attend the three-day “Unleashed” Country Girl Management event for a weekend of workshops, a catwalk showcase and a casting to be scouted by Australia’s leading modelling agencies.

The 23-year-old has modelled for nearly 10 years and said she was overwhelmed with mixed emotions when she received the award.

“I was not expecting it at all,” she said.

“It was really hard to describe the feeling.”

Ms Holmes said her achievement was another step towards making it big in the industry and would help get her name out there.

The event involved a catwalking class, a photoshoot, discussing body image as a teenager and a final catwalk show.

Ms Holmes exuded confidence and was assigned the role of “leader” of the catwalk.

“It was a really, really good experience,” she said.

Ms Holmes said and her family and friend Courtney Hardacre were very supportive of her career goals.

Her mum and sister Monique came along to the event and her dad is keen to go to Sydney.

“They were very overwhelmed, they were so proud of me, having them there made me feel so much more confident,” she said.

“They were my hype girls the whole time.”

Country Girl Management embraces all body types and empowers women.

Ms Holmes said she met some amazing, strong women and said CGM girls model worldwide for renowned, big-name brands.

Ms Holmes hopes to model worldwide and see herself on a billboard.

“If I could make that as a career, to just do modelling and travel all around the world, I would definitely do it,” she said.

“That would be the goal.”

During her teenage years, Ms Holmes said she struggled with her body image but modelling gave her confidence.

“I love modelling, it’s always given me confidence and makes me love my body and appearance,” she said.

“You look in the mirror like ‘why can’t I have this why can’t I have that,’ but I think when I’m up there I’m like ‘this is me’.

“That would be the feeling, feeling like you’re enough, you’re worth it, you’re gorgeous, you’re beautiful, showing women that you can do it.”
