The South Australian ‘N’ Gauge Society is full steam ahead preparing a model and hobby Show in Mount Gambier this long weekend for the first time in over 20 years.
Society secretary Peter Cawthorne said the event would feature a wide variety of model trains, aero Modellers, tabletop boardgamers, steam machinery, doll houses and the Crayola hobby shop with Lions Club of Mount Gambier catering for the event.
“We are a model railway club who do exhibitions and we have decided that we are going to start doing some country exhibitions because the country areas miss out,” Mr Cawthorne said.
“Our club is going to run an exhibition in a South Australian country town annually and we have decided Mount Gambier deserves to be the first one.
“We have added other hobbies to widen the interest and gives local clubs a chance to promote their hobbies.”
The event will take place at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church Hall on Penola Road running from 9-5pm on Saturday and Sunday and 9-4pm on Monday.
Mr Cawthorne said the exhibition was set to inject funds into the Mount Gambier economy.
“We look forward to the event and from what we have heard, the community is too,” he said.
Tickets can be purchased at the door with either cash or card, with children’s entry $2, adults $6, concession $5 and family $15.
“There is free parking available on Francis Street with parking in front of the venue restricted because it is reserved for church goers,” Mr Cawthorne said.
