Mount Gambier golfers ‘bring home the bacon’

Thirty-four lady golfers participated in the Mount Gambier Golf Club’s last game on the 2022 calendar in the Jeannette Braun-sponsored Ham Stableford competition.

Playing in cool and windy conditions there were three players all on 37 points and Denise Harvey (handicap 20) having 20 points on the long back nine took out the 1st place in the countback.

Denise’s split for the two nines were 17/20 points = 37 points which included five pars and one wipe-out.

Second place, after losing the countback, went to Helen Gregory (handicap 16) with her split being 19/18 = 37 points.

Helen played very consistently and recorded 4 pars and no wipe-outs.

Third spot, placing also on 37 points, went to Jess Parsons (handicap 26), who had a great front nine with 21 points, but fell away on the last nine with 16 points and one wipe-out recorded on her scorecard.

Nine balls were given out to players having 36 points – 33 points.

The Pro Shot on the 8th par 3 hole was won by Sue McPherson with a really close to the pin shot.

The speciality prizes for the second shot on the first hole were won by A Grade’s Helen McIntyre, B Grade’s Jess Parsons and Cs Grade’s Gail Stephenson.

Weather-wise it was a perfect day for the 18 ladies who competed in a Stableford event on Saturday.
