MSE hosts leagues’ best

The Mid South East is gearing up to take out the Limestone Cost Regional Carnival this weekend at the home of the Kongorong Hawks.

Taking the helm of the MSE senior squad will be Port MacDonnell’s Ben McGregor and this will be his fourth time in charge of a highly talented squad.

McGregor said weather conditions may play a part as they will be going in not as tall as they would like.

“Squad numbers have been good and plenty to choose from,” he said.

“But we are lacking in talls and key forwards especially.

“We will go in pretty small and it is was it is.”

Preparations have been going well and at the time of print the squad had not been named but McGregor was still happy with the talent expected to be on show.

“We have got a lot of return players that have played in the past and have not played heaps and guys like Mitch Lowe, Andrew Stone, Lachie Jones, potentially Dylan Childs barring injury that will stand out and lead from the front for the Mid-South east, “he said.

McGregor expects a dog fight from the KNTFL.

“The KNTFL have got a couple a key forwards In Tom Whittlesea at Centre half forward and Toby Cox who is a small that kicks a lot of goals,” he said

“We are pretty right defense wise I think and just seeing how we go with those and they have guys like Brad Bryant on the half bank flank and Jake McGrise whom both have played a lot of representative footy.”

McGregor hopes the weather will play in to the hands of the Mid South East side.

“I think it will benefit us especially with the KNT boys not being exposed to as much wet weather and we have a lot of quality small ground level players that will play their role,” he said.

The Carnival will kick off at 8.50am at Kongorong Sportsmans club Oval.
