Nail-biting finish

The annual Ladies’ Invitational Fours competition took centre stage at the Millicent Bowls Club last week.

The event was well supported by many visiting clubs travelling from Bordertown, Kingston, Robe, Lucindale, Penola, Mount Gambier RSL and Beachport.

No less than 14 teams took part in the competition with one game of 12 played before a fully catered lunch, while two games of 10 ends took place before going in for afternoon tea.

There were no three-game winners for the day but coming in first place was the Bordertown team.

Judy Lack, Wendy Twigden, Judy Vanderhorst and June Tink were the victors with two wins and a draw to record a score of 71 points.

The Beachport based runners-up also took home two wins and a draw after Annemarie Goode, Maureen Ruffin and Lynette Smith compiled a total of 70 points.

Completing the podium with two wins and a loss was a team from Penola Kathy Brooks, Judy Grosvenor and Carol Schmidt.
