Disc Golf is the latest on a long list of activities to celebrate the festive season over the coming weeks with the inaugural Christmas in the Crater ready to launch this weekend.

Similarly to the successful Eruption event held last month, Mount Gambier Disc Golf has created another competition open to all players from the best to the beginner.

Christmas in the Crater will be a two-day ADG B-Tier and PDGA C-Tier event this weekend, mixing the sport with some festive cheer.

Mount Gambier Disc Golf Christmas in the Crater assistant tournament director Ryan Nicholson said the new competition was created from the aftershock of the Eruption.

“After we had the Eruption a lot of people could not actually make it to the event and were keen to play in our next league competition, so we thought why not turn it into a Christmas themed event,” he said.

“There is interest from the Adelaide and Victorian Disc Golf community and there are already about 33 registered players which is pretty good.

“With the current cross-border requirements there is still a possibility some may not be able to come, but hopefully they can get through and enjoy the fun.

“There will be a late afternoon/evening round on our advanced layout, while round 2 is on Sunday morning on the amateur layout which will also be our league day.”

The two-day competition may sound like a leisure novelty activity – which it is – but it will be a make-or-break moment.
