Naracoorte forwards have field day

Round 14 of the Kowree Naracoorte-Tatiara provided another weekend of good football as the top five teams look to sort out their final placings before the finals start.

Naracoorte took charge of their double-chance destiny after they defeated fellow top-three challenger Keith by 23 points.

The Demons had a blitzing first quarter when they put through seven goals and were able to hold Keith at arm’s length for the rest of the game.

The Demon’s triple-threat forward combo of Rory Taggert, Zac Peake and Sam Willson combined for 15 of Naracoorte’s 19 goals in the victory.

Rory Taggert, Nathan Davey and James MacDonald were the Demons’ best players.

Keith got great service in front of the goals from Blake Read who kicked four goals and Daniel Bibby and Jonathon Wilson each kicked two goals apiece.

The Crows’ best players were Max Cunningham, Aydon Innes and Seb Schreiber.

A second-quarter blitz by the Border Districts Eagles set up their 52-point victory against Padthaway.

The Eagles had a nice spread of goal kickers with Dylan Schoenmakers leading the way with four goals.

Isaac Hewson and Harrison Pretlove kicked three goals apiece for the Eagles as well.

Gabriel Burden, Jameson Bower and Isaac Hewson were Border Districts’ best players.

Daniel Menzel played a lone hand as the Lions’ only multiple-goal kicker with six goals.

Jack Robinson, Rohan Longbottom and Riley Braybrook were Padthaway’s best players.

Penola recorded their fourth victory of the season when they proved to be too strong for Kybybolite.

The Eagles led at every change of ends to end up winning by 25 points.

Drew Clayfield and Bradley Merrett kicked four goals each in the victory.

Bradley Bryant, Scott Merrett and Drew Clayfield were Penola’s best players.

Kybybolite got some great service in front of the goals from Charlie Brodie and Angus McKenzie who kicked three goals each.

Angus McKenzie, Callum Masters and Alexander McKenzie were the Tigers’ best players.

Bordertown stunned Kingston by coming back from a 42-point deficit in the third quarter to record a six-point victory.

The Roosters fought the whole game and when the chance for a victory presented itself, they took it.

Jacob Eats put in a big performance as he kicked four goals and took many big marks.

Curtis McCarthy and Lachlan Murch also were important in the comeback victory with two goals each.

Jacob Eats, Petros Politis and Lachlan Murch were the Roosters’ best players.

Kingston got amazing service from senior colt Liam Braithwaite who

kicked five goals.

Jack Harding added three goals and Todd Lockwood kicked two goals to keep the Saints in the game.

Liam Braithwaite, Orestis Gambranis and Jacob Fisher were the Saints’ best players.

Mundulla shrugged off a persistent Lucindale to get a vital victory as they chase a top-three finish after the minor rounds.

The score was tied after the first two quarters before the Tigers flexed their muscles after halftime to get enough of a gap to get over the line by 28 points by the time the final siren sounded.

Jack Guy kicked four goals in the win for Mundulla.

Jake McGrice, Eamon Staude and Nathan Studham added three goals to the Tigers’ winning tally during the game.

Jake McGrice, Reagan Tink and Nathan Studham were the Tigers’ best players.

Josh Trembath continued his good season in front of the goals putting through five goals in the loss for the Roos.

Lachie Jones, Bradley Agnew and Henry Tregoweth were Lucindale’s best players.

Round 15 this week and the battle for the top three heats up when Mundulla host Naracoorte in the game of the round.

Both sides are in some great form and seem to be hitting their straps at the right time of the year.

The Tigers at home is as hard a task as there is and despite a few recent injuries, they still have the depth to cover lost players.

Jake McGrice and the Mosey boys are the glue that creates a strong midfield.

Nathan Studham has been a prized recruit and has kicked at least two goals in four of his five games.

Nathan Davey vs Nathan Studham would be a great head-to-head battle.

Both are in great form and the fans watching would love this matchup if it happened.

The Demon’s Mitch Pulmer, Josh Gregg and Josh Cother form a great rebounding defence that will be working hard to stop the Tigers’ forays forward.

Mundulla’s James Hinge at one end and Naracoorte’s Zac Peake at the other is another battle of the spearheads.

Zac has opened up a seven-goal lead in the league’s goal-kicking award.

James will be hoping to peg some of that lead back on Saturday and lead the Tigers to a victory.

Naracoorte beat Mundulla by a point the last time they played.

This time I think Mundulla will get across the line in a great game.

Penola hosts Bordertown and both sides are coming into this game off the backs of a win.

The Roosters had a great comeback win against Kingston.

Jacob Eats was outstanding in that game.

Thomas Whittlesea, Curtis McCarthy and Joshua Searle are other dangerous forward options the Eagles will need to stop if they are to record a victory.

Drew Clayfield and Bradley Merrett combined for eight goals on the weekend and a repeat of that can only enhance the Eagles chances of a victory.

Scott Merrett, Jordan Galpin and Brock Egan will need to win the midfield battle against Bordertown’s midfield which is led by Kyle Emery, Brent Shuttleworth and Tyson Hoffmann.

Bordertown look like they have too many forward weapons for the Eagles to cover.

The Roosters looked primed and ready for this game and should get across the line.

Keith hosts Kybybolite and Lewis Hender’s Crows will be looking to get the victory and keep their top three chances alive.

The last time these teams played, the Crows came away with a one-point victory.

Keith will be hoping for a more comfortable result.

Kybybolite coach Jack Kelly has the Tigers playing hard every game and taking it up to the top teams every week.

Kybybolite’s Billy Laurie has been a standout this season and would have quite a few league medal votes already banked.

If Billy can get some help from the likes of Brad Castine, Thomas Taheny and William Shepherd then the Tigers will be hard to shake.

The Crows should have the better firepower though and now with Will Schreiber back in the team, Keith should be able to record a solid victory.

Kingston will be desperate to get back into the winner’s circle before the finals come around.

The Saints face the Padthaway Lions having lost their previous three games and struggling to put four quarters together.

One big positive for Kingston is the return of James Siviour from injury.

James looked great in his return and should get better every game he gets before the finals start.

Kingston needs to start finding ways to kick bigger scores.

The Saints have kicked more than 100 points in a game just two times this season.

They will need to start to get their forward line settled and clicking before the finals.

Padthaway on the other hand is looking towards next season already but would love to claim a second victory over Kingston this

year.

Boom recruit Daniel Menzel has been on fire since joining the Lions.

Menzel has kicked 21 goals in his four games so far and Kingston will look to shut him down with the likes of Ben Rogers and Jacob Fisher.

Jarryd Hill would probably get the first crack at Menzel normally if he was not out injured at the moment.

Kingston will go in favourites, just because it is at home.

Lucindale had a crack last weekend against Mundulla and played some good football.

Josh Trembath had a day out in front of the goals.

Hamish Gordon was back in the Roos lineup and was already back to some of his best football.

This week the Roos face the top team Border Districts who look like they are hitting their straps again.

The Eagles kicked 31 goals the last time these two sides played.

Dylan Schoenmakers could be set to have a big day to get right back into contention for the goal-kicking award.

Lucindale will be determined to stop him from getting the ball.

Border Districts look way too strong for Lucindale and should record a good victory.
