Netball association gears up for strong 2024

The MGNA Board is extremely excited for the upcoming 2024 season.

This year marks the MGNA celebrating its 80th birthday and we have lots of ideas to help celebrate this milestone.

Look out for regular social media updates with flashbacks, interviews and upcoming events.

We hope to mark our milestone with lots of memories.

If you have memories or photos that you would like to share we would be more than happy to welcome your contributions.

Just send them to info@mgna.com.au and we will add them to our collection.

We welcome a number of new faces to our board as well as acknowledging the hard work of those members who have stepped down.

The MGNA Board compromises the following members:

Paula Moreland, Vice President/Umpire Coordinator

Nicole Forrest, Secretary

Maddi Sutterby, Treasurer

Danni Reade, Publicity Officer

Kristy Arnold, Records Officer

CJ Arnold, Board Member

Meegan Midwinter, Board Member

This team has been working tirelessly in the background over the last few months as we work through our pre-season and gear up for Round 1.

It would also be remiss of me not to send out a huge thank you to outgoing president Cindy Launer and outgoing secretary/treasurer Stacy Jantosh.

The contributions they made during their time on the board have been greatly appreciated.

Stacy, whilst stepping down from board commitments is still a vital part of our team assisting with bookkeeping and providing support to our incoming treasurer.

The MGNA would also like to take this opportunity to thank the following local businesses for their sponsorship over the last few years.

That support is greatly appreciated and we would like to acknowledge the following sponsors Dycer Construction, Lake City Taxi’s, Linen House, Max Medhurst Crash Repairs, Xpress Signs and The SE Voice.

Our 2024 draws are now live and we can happily say that we are offering competitions for 11& Under through to A grade players and once again we have nominations for all six clubs in our A grade competition.

This season also sees the return of 17 & Under competition after an absence of a couple of seasons which is exciting.

Round 1 kicks off on Saturday, April 6 at 9.30am with our 11 & Under competition commencing a week later on Friday, April 12 at 5.30pm.

Whilst numbers across all grades are good and indicate an exciting future for our association we welcome any expressions of interest and will gladly pass these on to our clubs for further consideration.

This year marks the second year of our association with the Wulanda Recreation Centre team and we will be again offering our members the opportunity to experience indoor games as well as our usual outside ones.

Overall the MGNA is gearing up for an exciting 2024 and we hope to see you all at our Margaret Street facility during the upcoming season.
