Netballers suit up for final round of season

Neighbours Kongorong and Port MacDonnell will face off in the final round of the 2021 Bendigo Bank Western Border Netball Association season this Saturday.

The Demons are coming off a nail biting win where they took the points against the Roosters, while the Hawks got thumped by Kalangadoo to the tune of 75 goals.

Neither side will play finals, but will be looking to finish the season strongly, especially Kongorong searching for its first win.

The Demons’ defender Morgan Amy will make the Hawks goalies Tilah Buckingham and Ella McIntyre work hard. Michelle Moore and Jess Trench have been consistent for the Bay through the middle and will have too much experience for the young Hawks mid-court.

Port Mac should win its last game of the season.

GLENCOE v KALANGADOO

Arematch of the previous MSENA grand final will occur to wrap up the minor-round campaigns of Glencoe and Kalangadoo.

There will be some great match ups to watch with Jayde Peacock and Donna Jaeschke always have a great tussle through the middle.

Magpies’ GA Abbey Duncan will likely line up against Sarah Edwards.

Both these girls’ agility and skill are vital parts of their respective sides.

Magpies GS Melissa Russell was outstanding against Kongorong, shooting with amazing accuracy, she will cause Glencoe’s defence line some headaches.

Last time these two teams met, Kalangadoo prevailed quite convincingly, but the stakes are a bit higher this time with Glencoe looking to secure their spot in the top four.

ROBE v MOUNT BURR

Mount Burr looks to steal a top-four berth when it travels to Robe this Saturday.

The Mossies will be boosted by their win in the previous clash and a thrilling one-goal victory last week.

Mount Burr takes the momentum into the clash, while Robe would be disappointed in a two-goal loss to Port MacDonnell.

Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie have played some brilliant netball in goals for the Roosters and they will line up against the consistent Mossies defence line of Heidi Clark and Madi Haggett.

Accuracy will be important down this end for Robe as Clark and Haggett are big rebounders.

Mount Burr shooters Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty have been superb in goals and they will come up against Georgia Perkins and Alannah Campbell who have both grown this year, becoming a great defence unit. Mount Burr should take the points in what should be a good tussle.

HATHERLEIGH v TANTANOOLA

Hatherleigh hopes its good luck against Tantanoola continues at home this weekend.

In the Last time these two teams met, it was the Eagles who got up by just five goals.

Hatherleigh will come out firing after a disappointing defeat last week, while the Tigers hope to cement their spot in the top four.

Hatherleigh’s end of the court is full of the juniors looking to shine.

Lacey Haines for the Eagles has been outstanding in the goal circle, while fellow Under 17 Tayla Rowe, has held down the GK position with some consistent games for the Tigers.

This match should be a great spectacle to finish off the minor rounds.
