The all-new Amarok utility is now available to experience at Barry Maney Volkswagen, with the top of the range Aventura packed full of features and technology – ‘maxing out’ on absolutely everything.

With the keys to the brand-new Volkswagen placed in our hands the open road was calling, and hitting the highway and heading to the border provided a chance to experience the handling and drive-ability of the new Amarok Aventura.
The all-new 3.0-litre V6 configuration TDI 600 engine provides 600Nm of torque and is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, with Volkswagen also stepping away from its the permanent four-wwheel drive system of the previous generation in favour of a more traditional setup, with owners now able to select between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive automatic to having further control through four-high and four-low modes.
Along with the diesel engine, Volkswagen also offers the Amarok Aventura with a TSI 452 petrol engine paired with the same 10-speed automatic transmission and 4-MOTION drivettrain as the diesel variant.
The Amarok Aventura is simply a pleasure to drive. Maximum comfort is provided throughout the entire package, from sitting in comfort, to the way the utility propels effortlessly along the road and glides across the road surface and around turns with ease.
A great deal of work has also been completed to ensure any exterior noise is not disruptive inside the cabin, with little to no road noise or engine noise heard while out and about, both in town and when hitting the open road.
As we drove out of the city limits into a more rural setting is where one of the features of the all-new Amarok created a talking point within the cabin. With cruise control set to 60kph as we toured past the Blue Lake Sports Park and entered the 80kph zone, the Amarok’s speed sign recognition prompted the vehicle to increase to the new signposted speed limit, again increasing when entering the 100kph zone.
With a bit of excitement the decision was made to head back towards town and see how it handled a decrease in speed and the system did not disappoint. While under regular circumstances you would commence slowing down as you enter the reduced speed zone, if you happen to miss the new posted limit the Amarok Aventura takes it upon itself to reduce the utility’s speed to ensure you don’t go speeding along the road way.
After a bit of discussion regarding the feature it was time to hop out and have a thorough look and inspection of the vehicle, where the stunning bodywork and sheer depth of the paintwork were also key talking points.
The days of boring, ‘workhorse’ utilities are now a thing of the past, with the Amarok setting the new benchmark across the utility market with premium levels of styling. From the stunning front IQ.LIGHT LED headlights, wide front grill, powerful side profile with squared-off guard design and distinct Amarok-emblazoned tailgate, the all-new Amarok is unmistakable on the road.
The Volkswagen Amarok Aventura also features a stylish sports ‘sail-plane’ with electric roller shutter to ensure any precious cargo stored within the utility’s tub remains locked up safe and sound.
Stepping up inside the cab of the Amarok Aventura matches the exterior, with a stylish dash-board and door profile graced with leather Savona trim finished of perfectly with ebony black headliner trim offering the ultimate luxury experience.
Not only does the interior look the part, but it is also packed with Volkswagen’s full technology suite, featuring a large digital cluster to display all the vital driving details as well as an on-board tyre pressure monitoring system.
On top of this, the Amarok Aventura features a large 12-inch infotainment and navigation system, controlling vehicle cameras, audio channels and functions along with vehicle system functions and the climate control zones.
A host of 12v and USB power sockets are also featured inside the cabin, while heated front seats can also be controlled by the main touch screen display.
Safety is also paramount with all new vehicles and Volkswagen has ensured the Amarok features the best of the best.
Dynamic light assistance is featured through the manufacturer’s IQ.LIGHT matrix headlights, a host of airbags including knee airbags for drive and passenger, autonomous emergency braking, front monitoring assistance, electronic stability control with electromagnetic brake booster and electric park brake are just some of the core features included as standard.
With a new design comes a host of new colours, with Volkswagen ensuring the Amarok Aventura has a colour for everyone from Mid Blue Metallic as pictured, as well as Bright Beige Metallic, Bright Blue Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Deep Red Metallic, Light Grey Metallic and Midnight Black Metallic.
