Grant District Council hosted a citizenship ceremony with special significance last week.
Oanh Whicker, the wife of council’s chief executive Darryl Whicker, received the honour alongside children Olivia and Darcy Whicker. Occurring before council’s meeting, the ceremony was administered at council’s chambers by Mayor Richard Sage.
He said he was honoured to award Ms Whicker with her citizenship. “I welcome the diversity that new residents bring to our community,” Mayor Sage said.
“It is great to see our community growing and it was a real honour to administer citizenship for Oanh, our Grant District Council chief executive officer’s wife … It is lovely to see a young family put roots down in our community”.
