New era of SUV electrified

Hyundai has elevated the electric vehicle driving experience through its IONIQ 5 E-SUV, which has been inspired by the future, past and present to deliver a complete package for the Australian market.

Barry Maney Hyundai has recently taken delivery of the all-new, all-electric IONIQ 5 SUV in its top of the line ‘EPIQ’ trim and upon setting sights on the future of motoring at it’s Mount Gambier dealership it was an instant talking point.

The exterior design is a visual delight that perfectly blends modern automotive styling and futuristic technology with hints of popular motoring aesthetics of the past to create a sense of “retro-futurism”.

Glistening across the front of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 are wide, slender LED headlights that would look at home in a cyberpunk setting, with low and high beam lighting delivering a clear view of the road ahead once night falls.

Geometric body lines spread across the entirety of the vehicle from the front bar aero -active vents and grill like embellishments to the complementing side and guard accents through to the strip of rear, clear LED tail lights that make a real statement when illuminated.

The top-of-the-line EPIQ variant also removes the conventional side mirror design in place of sleek aero-inspired rear facing cameras that are displayed inside the vehicle via high definition OLED screens with side alerts and warnings when indicating or turning as well as a wider field of view than their regular counterparts.

A host of colour options are available to enhance the IONIQ’s body lines further, with Atlas White, Galactic Grey, Ecocentric Grey, Phantom Black, Abyss Black, Digital Teal Green, Lucid Blue and Gravity Gold on offer to add your own personal touch.

Propelling the latest and greatest Hyundai electric vehicle forward is a 239kW motor with 605Nm of torque helping drive the IONIQ 5’s all-wheel drive system.

A 77.4kWh battery provides a quoted 454km range with the ability to rapid charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

These technological advancements in electric vehicle charging open purchases up to a whole new range of buyers, with the previously dreaded charging times now being drastically reduced to be able to hop out and stretch your legs for a short period of time before jumping back in and having ample charge to get to your desired destination.

From the outside, the IONIQ 5 size is somewhat deceptive, as it’s proportions can give the impression that it is a smaller SUV, which is what makes hopping inside the Hyundai even more mind-blowing.

The sheer abundance of room not only up front, but also for rear passengers and boot space is extremely impressive – and was even more of a talking point upon the discovery of being able to electronically adjust not only the front seats, but also having the ability to increase rear cargo space or rear passenger leg room by sliding the rear seating forward or back depending on your required situation, greatly improving the versatility of the IONIQ 5 whether transporting a large amount of rear cargo or simply seating five occupants inside in ultimate comfort.

Having a driver who may require a bit more leg room is no longer a problem, with the rear seat behind being able to slide back separately to the seats alongside, which is enhanced even further by being able to manually slide the centre console forward to create additional room for the centre rear passenger.

The IONIQ 5’s front seating has also received an abundance of power enhancements to find the perfect seating position whether you are a driver or passenger, with a neatly tucked away lower leg support boosting comfort levels when activated.

For those wanting to pull over for a power nap on lengthy drives or just rest when charging, Hyundai has equipped the E-SUV with a ‘relaxation mode’ which allows front occupants to fully recline the seats at the press of a button to enjoy the feeling of zero gravity for a refreshing break while charging the vehicle before continuing on the journey.

Another neat feature is the rear seat vehicle to load power socket, where 250V of power can be accessed to charge laptops, phones and tablets with ultimate convenience on the go.

An abundance of tech is also featured inside the Hyundai IONIQ 5, with ample USB charging ports and a wireless smartphone charging dock tucked neatly into the centre console, AR heads up display with turn by turn navigation to help keep your eyes fixed on the road ahead, BOSE premium audio to deliver a crisp and powerful sound experience and the ability to set the mood by changing the vehicles accessory lighting to a range of pre-set colours or having the ability to select your own.

Two large screens also sit up front to clearly display all engine and vehicle vitals as well as control the media settings and satellite navigation system, with a rear ‘kerb cam’ also being showcased when turning left or right to further improve rear vision.

Pricing for the entry level IONIQ 5 DYNAMIQ starts at $76,953.44 drive away, with the mid-range TECHNIQ starting at $84,753.44 driveaway and the top of the line EPIQ as pictured with all the bells and whistles starting at $90,454.44 driveaway.

Buyers are also given peace of mind with each IONIQ 5 sold with an 8-year – 160,000km high voltage battery warranty with the ability to add Hyundai iCare to include a lifetime service and premium roadside assist support plan.

With the new Hyundai IONIQ 5 making an impact on the electric vehicle market, models are selling fast, so pop in and see the team at Barry Maney Hyundai at 40 Percy Street Mount Gambier or contact the dealership on 8721 3400 to find out how you can hop into your own ‘EPIQ’ E-SUV today.
