New health restrictions

Due to COVID-19 cases identified at the Kingston Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, the site was temporarily closed for a 72-hour
period.

A Limestone Coast Local Health Network spokesperson said the shutdown came into effect on Friday.

“During this time, we are unable to support presentations to the Emergency Department, admit any new patients, or accept any visitors,” the spokesperson said.

“In an emergency, patients will be redirected to the nearest hospital, either at Naracoorte, Millicent, Bordertown or Mount Gambier.

“If you require emergency medical assistance please phone 000.

“Normal services are expected to resume at Kingston Soldier’s Memorial Hospital from Tuesday, January 11.

“We thank you once again for your understanding and assistance.”

Visitor restrictions are being implemented across all Limestone Coast Local Health Network sites due to the escalating COVID-19 situation in South Australia.

Visitors will only be permitted for:

• End of life visits.

• A partner or support person for maternity patients (1 person only).

• A parent for an unwell child 16 years and younger (1 parent only).

• Only the nominated visitor for Aged Care Residents.

Child visitors will also not be permitted at this time.

Exceptions from the above can only be made with approval from the Site Director of Nursing and Midwifery.

The Millicent Hospital COVID-19 testing site will be temporarily closed until further notice.

A Limestone Coast Local Health Network spokesperson said people with any symptoms of COVID-19, even if mild, should get tested as soon as possible.

“Testing sites in Mount Gambier and Robe are still operational,” the spokesperson said.

“Please be patient with staff at testing sites who are working hard to manage traffic, organise logistics and collect samples.”

All Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) offices across South Australia closed to the public as of yesterday due to the escalating COVID-19 situation in the state.

A SA Health spokesperson said the closure was being implemented to promote safety and security for community members and PATS staff working at multiple offices.

PATS staff will continue to assess all claim submissions.

Claims can be submitted:

•In the drop box provided at the Mount Gambier PATS office.

•By mail to the address on the back of the PATS form.

•At www.pats.sa.gov.au through the PATS online web portal.

Contact PATS on 1300 341 684 or email PATS@sa.gov.au for more information.

The PATS program is an important initiative which assists regional South Australians access specialist medical services not available locally.
