New Saint in charge

Premiership ruckman Finn Grimes (pictured) has been selected as captain of the Millicent Football Club for the 2024 season.

His Saints will begin their premiership defence in the re-branded Limestone Coast Football League against the Cats at Casterton on April 20.

A vacancy arose at the helm as Jacob Carger relinquished the role after three successful seasons.

A Millicent spokesperson has welcomed the promotion of Grimes and the appointment of Kade Bradley as his deputy.

“Grimes has shown tremendous leadership both on and off field in previous years,” the spokesperson said.

“His passion and drive will pave the way for our club in the upcoming year.

“We are extremely excited to have this man lead our team in 2024.

“Bradley is someone who plays his football, the right way and never takes a backward step.

“We are extremely excited for him to grow into the leader we all know he can be.

“Enjoy the year and set a high standard to your football club.

“The leadership group also consists of Caleb Williams, Kade Varcoe and Carger. All of these three men bring great and different qualities to our playing group.

“We are looking forward to commencing a new chapter with these leaders in the Limestone Coast Football League.”

On-field leadership will also be provided by playing coach Tom Renzi.

Meanwhile, Will Chay will continue as Hatherleigh Football Club captain and will have Jed Telfer s his deputy.

The others in the leadership group of the Eagles are Jack Skeer, Mikey Telford, and Lewis Walker.
