New Shire care provider named

New providers have been announced for aged and disability services in the Glenelg Shire.

In February the Glenelg Shire Council confirmed its decision to withdraw from the delivery of home support and community-based services funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

CHSP services assist people over the age of 65 to maintain independence in their home through support with daily living tasks, home modifications, home maintenance services and social activities.

The Commonwealth Government requested Glenelg Shire Council extend the current Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) contract until September 30, 2023.

Council formally agreed to the request and will continue to provide services until that date.

This three-month extension supports the Commonwealth Government and new providers with additional time to limit disruption and support the transition of services for clients of Portland District Health, Heywood Rural Health and Western District Health Services (on behalf of Casterton Memorial Hospital).
