No lights draw police attention

Limestone Coast Police intercepted an alleged drink driver at Naracoorte in the early hours of Sunday morning.

About 12.30am on Sunday police observed a vehicle exiting the car park of a Naracoorte supermarket without headlights.

The car then tried to turn into another car park but mounted the concrete kerb and stopped.

The driver, a 26-year-old Naracoorte man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.196 – almost four times the legal limit.

The man was reported for drink driving and driving at night without lights.

He was issued with a 12 month instant loss of licence, his car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Limestone Coast Police are appealing to the community to help them deter and catch drink drivers and other motorists who put us all at risk on the roads.

Anyone who spots dangerous driving behaviour or has information that someone is driving under the influence should report it on the police assistance line on 131 444.
