The Next-Gen Ford Everest has arrived in style and is currently on show in it’s ‘Sport’ trim at Barry Maney Ford.

Featuring a bold new design headlined by Ford’s signature C-Clamp headlight design, the all new body style is instantly recognisable on the road.

Smooth and flowing body lines connect the front and rear of the car rounded out by stylish LED tail lamps with the Sport variation equipped with black exterior mirrors, door handless, front bumper accents and large 20-inch alloy wheels for an added touch of spice.

While the Sport variant is available as a rear wheel drive, 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the demo model put through its paces was the full-time four wheel drive Ford Everest equipped with a 3.0–litre V6 turbo diesel powerplant putting down 184kW of power and a maximum torque output of 600Nm.

While the V6 powerplant boasts an increase of 30kW of power and an additional 100Nm of torque, all Ford Everest vehicles across the range feature a maximum braked towing capacity of 3500kg.

A suite of new technology is packed into the Next–Gen Everest, but one of the most impressive features is the ability to create trailer profiles to take advantage of the optional towing pack which includes an electronic brake controller.

Putting in the details of each trailer – whether you’re carting a load of wood, taking the jet ski down to the Valley Lakes or loading up the family caravan and hitting the open road – allows for a simple press of a button to allocate the required profile and the Everest takes care of the rest.

Stepping into the cabin of the Next-Gen Ford Everest is also a delight, with a large 12-inch digital full colour display sitting pride of place in the centre of dash and controlling everything from heated and cooled seats, fan speed, audio and satellite navigation.

Pairing your smartphone device to the entertainment system is also a quick and easy process, with the unit also taking advantage of your phones features through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality.

All three rows of seating are graced in a stylish black leather trim with the front seating emblazoned with the Everest’s ‘SPORT’ branding, and an abundance of storage compartments also keep items neatly tucked out of sight while an integrated wireless charging unit is complemented by a host of USB and 12-volt accessory sockets.

The climate control system also features a few nice additions, with rear passengers able to separately control fan speed through the roof mounted vents ensuring all passengers maintain an optimal level of comfort.

Taking to the highway and hitting the open road, it was instantly recognisable how much effort has gone into not only the ride quality, maximising the potential of the Ford Everest’s coil rear spring suspension, but also just how silently the vehicle cruises across the road surface.

Steering is light and responsive and a hose of driver attentive features and safety features help ensure all occupants are kept safe and comfortable inside the cabin.

Each Next-Gen Ford Everest comes with a 5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating with pre-collision and intersection assistance, lane keeping and road edge detection, reverse brake and evasive steer assist as well as a host of airbags.

Whether cruising the streets or taking your Everest off the beaten track, a host of drive modes from normal and eco through to tow/haul, slippery, mud or sand options make light work of whatever terrain is underneath the tyres, while a smart driveline system allows the vehicle to switch between 2-High, 4-All, 4-High and 4-Low at the flick of a dial.

To make the Next-Gen Everest stand out even more on the road are a host of colour options. While Arctic White is classy and stands out on the road, those wanting a touch more flair can opt for Meteor Grey, Aluminium Silver, Blue Lightning, Sedona Orange, Equinox Bronze or Shadow Black at an additional cost.

The optional towing pack features the tow bar and previously mentioned electronic brake controller to set your Everest up straight off the showroom floor, while a touring pack features a 360-degree camera, zone lighting and stand-off roof rails in addition to the tow bar and brake controller.

If you’re predominately in search of rough and rugged surfaces, Ford has provided an optional 18-inch black alloy wheel with all-terrain tyres which can be switched out at added cost.

Pricing for the Next-Gen Everest starts at $58,433 driveaway for rear wheel drive Ambiante and $66,025 driveaway for rear wheel drive Trend, while the full-time four wheel drive Ford Everest Sport pricing starts at $75,606 driveaway. For those wanting to go one step further, the Ford Everest Platinum steps wheel sizing up to 21-inch alloys with the addition of steel underbody protection, black painted roof, dual panel power panoramic sunroof and Matrix LED headlamps with pricing starting at $84,568 driveaway.
