Our best restaurants, cafes and caterers crowned

South East hospitality venues have won a slew of prestigious awards as part of the 2020 South Australia Restaurant and Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence.

The Awards for Excellence program formally recognises hospitality operators across a broad range of categories who consistently provide exceptional service and demonstrate culinary excellence in their respective fields.

Mount Gambier’s Commodore on the Park Restaurant was named the Best Restaurant in a Hotel, beating out Adelaide’s Playford Hotel Restaurant for the top prize.

Mayura Station’s The Tasting Room at Millicent was named the Best Steak Restaurant, with The Barn Steakhouse a finalist in the same category.

Mayura Station was also a finalist in the Best Tourism Restaurant category.

The Barn Steakhouse claimed the title of Best Wine List, ahead of six other establishments predominantly in Adelaide and the Barossa Valley.

Pipers of Penola was named the Best Formal Contemporary Australian Restaurant, while Mount Gambier’s Presto Eatery was a finalist in the Best Regional Breakfast Restaurant and Regional Café Dining categories.

Restaurant and Catering chief executive CEO Wes Lambert congratulated each of the winners on behalf of the association, recognising their significant contributions to the hospitality sector across South Australia.

“The South Australian Awards for Excellence is one of the most important nights in SA Hospitality’s calendar,” he said.

“It is always such an amazing experience to recognise some of the state’s finest hospitality businesses who are among the very best our industry has to offer.”
