PBs smashed at Little Athletics

The final Little Athletics meet for 2022 was held in Mount Gambier on Friday night.

The night started with the Tiny Tots enjoying some games, jumping and running with coach Sally Taylor.

The Tiny Tots improve each week which is fantastic to see.

The under 10 females participated in shot put, 1100m walk, 70m and 400m race.

Shot put was close, with Shelby Weedon taking the lead with a 4.46m shot.

Amelia Holmes and Isla Stucky both picked up personal bests in this event.

One of the girls’ favourite events – the 1100m walk – saw Tatiana Brogan in a personal best time of 7:48:05 getting very close to a centre record.

In the 400m Mackenna Povey finished strong with a 2 second PB in one of her favourite events.

The 70m sprint was a closely run race.

Isla Stuckey, in her first season of Little Athletics, ran a personal best time of 11.19 seconds, with Tatiana and Mackenna right on her tail.

Amelia and Shelby also recorded personal best times in this event.

Up and coming athlete Jenna Jagger took the honours in the under 16 females 400m race with Bethany Izzard right behind her recording a personal best time.

Bethany continued her form into the high jump finishing the night with a 5cm lead on Kyla Gordon.

However, Kyla smashed the shot put with a 7.91m throw.

Up and coming walk athlete Emily Lynch was superb in the 1500m walk after her success in the all schools competition.

Under 13 males enjoyed a successful night of shot put, Triple Jump, 200m, 400m and the 1500m walk.

Albert Peters was the successful athlete on the night in the triple jump ahead of Eamon Cook and Eli De Breuk.

Albert also finished the 400m ahead of Eli and Tyce Hillier.

Eli however claimed the walk ahead of Eamon, with both boys recording a personal best in the event.

The new year will recommence on January 27 at Mount Gambier High school.
