Pedlar survives countback

The second round of the Olympic Trophy played in a stroke format resulted in some good scores last Wednesday at Attamurra.

The overall leader in the 37-player field had to be decided by a count-back after Kerry Pedlar, Helen Gregory and Heather Barry all returned one under their handicap.

Pedlar had a strong homeward nine of 40 off the stick which include a birdie on the 15th hole finishing with 84/72 net.

Her strong finish counted out runner-up Gregory (88/72) and Barry (91/72) in third.

Di O’Donnell, Kathy Ewer, Bernie Jennings, Chris Galpin, Faye Mainwaring, Janina Morrison, Libby Furner and Andrea Pegler were the ball run down winners who needed net 76 or better to claim a ball, while the pro shot was won by Bernie Jennings on the par three eighth hole.

Prizes in A, B and C grades for the longest putt on the first hole were won by Helen Gregory, Janina Morrison and Maureen Sims respectively.

The final round of the Olympic Trophy sponsored by Limestone Holdings will be held on Wednesday in a par format and the qualifying rounds of the Handicap Match Play Championships will be played on the following Wednesday.
