It was a windy but very successful Friday night for Mount Gambier Little Athletics at the Mount Gambier High School track.
Eighty-three athletes participated in a range of different events and were successful in achieving 129 personal bests for the night.
The Under 13 girls participated in the 200m, 400m, shot put, triple jump and 1500 metre walk.
Winnie Zadow claimed top spot in the shot put with a 6.88m throw and also in the triple jump with a 8.60m jump.
On the track Isobel Thompson crossed the finish line in 31.67 second, Isobel kept her good form in the 400m race ahead of Winnie and Layla Hawke.
Layla however finished first in the 1500m walk after a busy week in school competition.
Vortex, Discuss, 50m and 500m events were on the agenda for the Under 7 boys.
Two of the boys achieved personal bests in the discus as Hudson Clark threw 11.11 metres with Casey Weedon just under 10 metres.
Hudson also had a stand out night in the 50 metre sprint finishing in 9.64 seconds, almost claiming a centre record held since 2014.
Harrison Gordon and Joshua Badenoch were not far behind the leader.
Charlie Benjamin claimed a personal best for this event.
The boys’ final event for the night was the 500 metre race.
Harlee Holmes finished his race with a personal best time, with Harrison Gordon finishing first.
Tatiana Brogan had a stand out personal best performance in the Under 10 girls 1100 metre walk, finishing just two seconds behind a centre record held since 2005.
Maggie Hodges also secured a PB in the long distance walk and 400 metre race.
Not much could separate Isla Stucky, Tatiana and Mackenna Povey in the 70m sprint.
Isla claimed this one though by the smallest of margins.
Amelia Holmes achieved a personal best in her shot put finishing in third spot.
The 400m saw Mackenna Povey sprint to the finish line to take that one out for the night just missing out on a personal best time.
There are only two meets left for the 2022/2023 season.
It’s great to see so many athletes achieving their goals, personal bests and enjoying themselves in events.
