Photo competition set to continue online

The annual Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition will now not return to its traditional print format in 2022.

It had been hoped that photographs in hard copy measuring 8” x12” would be accepted at the Millicent Library.

However, COVID restrictions have prompted a change of heart and it will be a solely digital contest for the third consecutive year.

Entries close at the library on September 10 with all anticipating another exciting exhibition in digital format.

The prize winners will be announced on the afternoon of September 18 at the Millicent Gallery.

In the past two years, only digital images were accepted for the annual Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition and scaled-back award presentations were held.

The change for 2022 will be that seven printed entries per category will be hung on the gallery walls while there will be two slide shows to recognise the other entries.

Held annually, the exhibition captures the vibrancy and diversity of our Wattle Range region and has proven to be a great opportunity for photographers to exhibit their images, demonstrated by the number of entries in previous years.

Since its inception in 2007, this photographic exhibition has developed to become a premier photographic exhibition in South Australia.

Entries from both amateurs and professionals are welcome.

As in previous years the photographs entered will once again be the basis for the highly sought-after Wattle Range calendar.

The winning photographs are represented in the calendar and many photographs are also featured in council publications, promotional materials, signs and town banners.

There are 11 categories up for grabs, including a youth award, drone image, mayoral prize and Lake McIntyre imagery.
