Pioneers bring world of experience into 2022 line-up

In great news for the Castec Rural Pioneers, international player, Mark St. Fort has signed ahead of 2022 NBL1 South Season.

The 200cm 34-year-old St. Fort is an international player with immense experience having played professionally in Japan, Bahrain, France, Thailand and Columbia.

He is currently playing in the Philippines on a short contract and is expected to arrive in Mount Gambier in mid-March.

In 2021 playing in Japan, St. Fort averaged 13 points per game shooting at an excellent 61% from the field together with six rebounds per game.

The Castec Rural Pioneers head coach Richard Hill cannot wait to have St. Fort join the Pioneers and get to work with him.

“Mark is a perfect fit for us,” he said.

“He is very versatile, a solid athlete with great perimeter skills to go with good size and a strong athletic body.

“Mark has shown throughout his career that he can, and is willing to do whatever his team needs.

“A very efficient scorer, outstanding rebounder and defender who is a tremendous shot blocker for his size.”

In other news, the Castec Rural Pioneers and Duom Dawam have mutually agreed not to continue their partnership for the 2022 season.

The Pioneers thank Dawam for his contribution in 2021 and wish him every success for the future.

The Castec Rural Pioneers and the OneFortyOne Pioneers will commence their 2022 NBL1 South campaigns at the Icehouse on 23 April 2022.
