Players enter summer break

The last round before the summer break has been played in Southern Ports Junior Tennis.

As predicted there were two very tight contests with Naracoorte Red getting over the line by one game against the previously undefeated Kingston side and Naracoorte/Padthaway Blue also coming out on top by one game on the grass against Lucindale Roos.

The teams head into the well-earned summer break and it will be interesting to see how the teams line up for the remainder of the season.

Naracoorte White has taken top spot with a very strong percentage that could be hard for Kingston to claw back.

On a warm morning in Naracoorte the Reds were looking strong after the doubles, taking two out of three wins.

Hudson Menz had a strong 6-1 win over Lachy Clyne in the singles.

Georgie Midwinter won her singles when it was needed for Naracoorte.

Sid Hawker and Emilie Schaefer played their first singles of the season.

Well done to Sid who won 6-2.

Naracoorte took the match 38 games to 37.

It came down to the wire for Lucindale Roos v Naracoorte/Padthaway Blue with a one game win to the Blues.

The day started with all matches very close and long contests.

A tie-breaker was played between the McGreggors and Bucketts with Jimmy and Ernie just getting over the line.

The winners of both matches were Toby Longbottom, Anna Orton, Jimmy and Ernie Buckett.

Cracking conditions in Naracoorte saw the mighty Naracoorte White taking on Millicent/Beachport.

Match of the day was the number one and two combos of Charlie and Mia McCarthy and Axel Joyce and the entertainer Sam Lang with the sibling duo too strong, winning 6-4.

Naracoorte White were too strong for the league newcomers 54 games to 12.

Lucindale Koalas and Naracoorte/Padthaway Yellow played at Lucindale in glorious conditions.

There were some good matches with great rallies.

After the doubles the Koalas had the upper hand 18 games to 11.

This set the tone for the morning with the Koalas too strong winning 49-22.

Now that we are in the 2nd round of matches we are really seeing the improvement from all the juniors.

Make sure you keep hitting over the summer to come back strong for the run up to grand final day on March 4.
