Police catch up with speeding driver

Aman will be summonsed to appear in court after being caught speeding at Nangwarry.

Police will allege that about 9am on Wednesday officers detected a vehicle travelling on the Riddoch Highway at 143kph in a 110kph zone.

Police lost sight of the vehicle, but it was found abandoned a short time later on a side road, with crash damage.

The driver and passenger had fled from the vehicle.

Further investigation led police to a Nangwarry address where a 30-year-old man was reported for driving disqualified, exceed speed, fail to stop and drive without due care.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

He may face further charges once his drug test sample has been forensically analysed.

A day earlier another man lost his licence after being caught drink driving in Nangwarry.

Just before 8.30pm on Tuesday police stopped a man driving on O’Loughlin Street, Nangwarry.

The driver submitted to a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.187.

The 53-year-old Mount Gambier man lost his licence on the spot for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
