Police patrols are being sent to Tantanoola on an almost daily basis to combat speeding motorists.
Traffic through the township has increased markedly over recent months owing to the construction of additional passing lanes and other roadworks on the nearby Princes Highway.
Senior Sergeant First Class Rick Errington, officer-in-charge of Millicent police, has reminded road users the maximum speed through the Tantanoola township is 50kph.
He said the open road approaches to Tantanoola had a limit of 100kph.
Sgt Errington said he was also assigning patrols to “back roads” at Furner, Bray and Claywells to check on the behaviour of drivers.
Meanwhile, emergency services crews were called to a vehicle accident in a pine plantation at Tantanoola on the afternoon of August 12.
A vehicle rolled on Kingsmill Road before catching alight.
CFS crews extinguished the blaze, with police also in attendance.
Sgt Errington said police had suspicions the vehicle had been deliberately set on fire.
