The Australia Day Mayoral Award at Robe will now be presented on a posthumous basis to late long-serving Robe CFS Brigade captain Rodney McMartin.
The Robe District Council had decided on its Australia Day award recipients during a closed portion of its December monthly meeting and the winners were announced just before Christmas.
Mr McMartin subsequently died at the Kingston Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Christmas Eve at the age of 58.
His funeral was held last week at the Robe Cemetery.
