The Mount Gambier Netball Association Grand final was won by an impressive side in Intruders coached by Cath Dycer.
Intruders have been the dominant team all year and were out to retain this and did so by securing the win by 32 goals.
Having been the hunted team all year, other teams wanted to beat Intruders and knock them off the perch but as a group they were focused right from the start of the week.
“The idea was to just continue doing what we were doing and making sure that our passes were getting to the players where they needed to be,” she said.
“(Also) taking control of the game, not getting swept up in a quick game and to play our normal style and tempo.
“They were able to adapt and play the way they wanted right through the season.
“From the last time we played the rules have not changed, the game quarters have not changed, the breaks have not changed and we were there as a team.”
Dycer said after a year of hard work the team celebrated in style.
“Emotions were pretty good and everyone was excited with the win and we all played a fantastic hard driven determined game which was really great,” she said.
“Then we went on with celebrations at one of our sponsors in the Globe Hotel which went on until the early hours of the morning.”
It has been a big season for the Intruders Netball Club and coach Cath Dycer has not committed to the role of coach in 2023 yet and just wants to enjoy the celebrations of the premiership and presentation night before speaking with her assistant coaches, saying she would “make a call very soon”.
“I am not going to say anything at the minute,” she said.
“I just want to sit back and enjoy the win.”
