‘Ps’ in a pod share umpiring duties

Asporting event recently teamed up a local MP and a GP as they umpired one of the Limestone Coast Women’s AFL Under 16 finals.

Donning the green colours were Member for MacKillop Nick McBride and Naracoorte Hospital principal medical officer Dr Jeff Taylor.

Both are regular members of the umpiring panel of the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League.

They officiated in the play-off for third place between the Kybybolite Tigers and the South Gambier Demons.

Coached by former Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs player Simon Cox, Kybybolite exploited their home ground advantage and won by 22 points.

Dr Taylor congratulated all players for the excellent standard of play.

“‘From the best seat in the house I’m tipping a couple of future AFLW players in the making,” Dr Taylor said.

“Keep up the great work.”

Similar sentiments were expressed by Mr McBride who turned to umpiring after completing his football playing career with the Kingston
Saints.

“Loved getting out on the ground at Kybybolite: congratulations to all the teams – what a great evening of football,” Mr McBride said.
