Public invited to ‘final inspection’

The public has been given the opportunity to have a “last look” at the former Tantanoola Primary School.

It closed over three years ago and the State Government has appointed a Mount Gambier firm as its selling agent.

An open inspection was held of the 8.48 acre property on the weekend.

The last local educational facility to be sold by the State Government was the former Glencoe West Primary School and Kindergarten which changed hands in 2016.

The buildings had been unoccupied for several years since all local educational facilities were consolidated on the one site at Glencoe Central Primary School.

It was first listed for sale in 2013 for $135,000 and the asking price subsequently dropped.

The buildings have stood on Copping Road for the better part of 100 years while the nearby detached ex-headmaster’s house was not part of the sale.

Most of the Millicent district’s superseded older schools have been converted to accommodation.

This applies to schools at Glencoe (East), Kalangadoo, Furner, Nangula Springs, Beachport, German Flat and Hatherleigh.

An exception is the St Clair School which is derelict.
