Rain arrives … but more needed

Primary producers in the Limestone Coast have their fingers crossed that the region has finally received its break to the season, with 13mm of rain recorded in the last 24 hours.

Despite the rain falling, the region is still well below its average total with only 22mm recorded for the month of May, well down on the long term monthly average of 73.8mm.

With winter officially starting tomorrow, Mount Gambier has recorded 104.8mm for the year, less than half the long term average to date of 216.3mm.
