Rainbow flag flown with pride at council

Diversity within the community is again being celebrated by the Grant District Council this ‘Pridevember’.

Council resolved to commit to fly the rainbow flag each year and updated council’s internal flag flying policy to reflect this earlier this year.

In line with this resolution, council will fly the rainbow flag throughout the month of November 2022.

The flying of the rainbow flag coincides with Adelaide’s annual Feast Festival; the city’s LGBTIQ+ Arts and Cultural Festival promoting pride, community identity, inclusion, and celebration.

This year is the 25th anniversary of Feast Festival which has a full program of events organised across Adelaide throughout November to celebrate.

Council’s Director Corporate Services director Gary Button said council was proud to support and promote inclusivity of all individuals within the district.

“Diversity within our community should be celebrated and flying the rainbow flag is a great opportunity to do so,” he said.

“Feast Festival is also an excellent initiative which Grant District Council is equally pleased to support, along with approximately 26 councils state-wide, to help promote equality locally and throughout South Australia.”

The rainbow flag will be on display at council’s principal office until November 27.
