Records smashed in big season

MORE than nine new centre records and an outstanding number of personal best performances are on the record as the Casterton Little Athletics Club season comes to an end.

The club’s end-of-season wind-up was held on Friday night, with Star Achiever, Age Group Champion and club shield awards presented.

Huge emphasis is placed on personal best performances throughout the year – athletes are encouraged and rewarded for improving their own results in each event and Star Achiever Medals are presented to the club member in each age group, who achieves the highest number of personal best performances, across all disciplines, in a season.

Age Group Champion Awards are also presented to the athlete achieving the highest results, collectively, across all disciplines in a season and club shields – most named in honour of and sponsored by the families of late and significant contributors to Casterton Little Athletics.

This year we also finished the season with nine new club records on the books, but there were more.

Several of those records were broken and then beaten again during the season – an outstanding effort from our members.

A final thank you to our committee, families and friends who assist with running our programs each week.

Around 20 helpers are required on Friday nights to pack up and set up equipment, chaperone age groups, run events, time and record keep, marshal competitors, cook and serve the barbecue and lots of other little jobs that make things run smoothly.

Thank you from all of our members for making that happen.
