The local MacKillop electorate branch of the Liberal Party held an uneventful annual general meeting at Keith recently.

Around 60 party members were present and the guest speakers were Opposition Leader David Spiers, Ben Hood MLC and Member for Barker Tony Pasin.

None of the positions were contested and nearly all office-holders sought re-election and will serve a further 12 months.

It was a different outcome than at the equivalent meeting at Hatherleigh in 2023 when key office- holders sought re-election but were defeated in the secret ballots.

This prompted sitting Liberal MacKillop MP Nick McBride to leave the party and become Independent.

The Liberal Party has around 500 paid-up members in the MacKillop electorate.
