Anew playground has been installed at the Glencoe oval thanks to the hard work of volunteers and generosity of local businesses and council.
The new installation was made possible through grants from the Wattle Range Council, Bendigo Bank and OneFortyOne which were applied for by Glencoe Playground Sub Committee member Craig Childs.
The remaining amount was funded by the Glencoe netball, tennis, cricket and football clubs and the playground was transported from Melbourne by Bio Gro.
Glencoe Playground Sub Committee member Jenna Paproth said the installation was a huge community effort with a lot of people taking time out of their busy work schedules to help.
“Brad Gosden from Metalworx did a lot during work hours which was good and then Dane Paproth from O’Brien Electrical also donated a lot of his time and his workers’ time as well,” she said.
“I have two young children so I was definitely an advocate for the (local sporting) committees to look into getting one.
“Everyone is really happy with it, all the clubs that have come to Glencoe this season already have said that it’s great.
“It is a nice safe playground and everybody has been really positive about it and all the kids seem to love it which is what it is all about.”
The new playground includes something for children of most age groups with monkey bars, swings, a slide, rock climbing and an imagination play area complete with a shop front.
