Sunny skies were in abundance on the weekend as Mount Gambier tennis players snuck in their last game before a well-deserved Christmas and New Year break.
E Green Ball players were able to soak up the morning sun with great scores shown across the board.
First up was West Gambier Red against Mount Schank White where there were impressive rallies across the match-ups with West claiming the win 27-15 games.
Mount Gambier Green faced Mount Gambier Blue, where Green scores the win 7-12 games.
West Gambier Blue blew it’s competition out of the water this weekend against Reidy Park with a score of 30-7, while in the final game of the E Green Ball division between Mount Schank Blue and Mount Gambier White was a similar scenario with Blue proving too strong to claim a 30-9 victory.
In Mount Gambier and Districts Tennis Association Division 1 action, a number of epic battles were witnessed starting with the Mount Schank v Uniting clash.
Mount Schank started the match strong, but Uniting was able to come back and defeat the team 62-40.
Centrals/Uniting/Gambier v Glencoe was a match up each respective club had been waiting for, with the former looking to defend its title of Division 1 champions, but Glencoe was eager to hold onto its undefeated position.
Centrals/Uniting/Gambier started strong and was able to hold steady throughout the entire match to be the first team to defeat Glencoe this season in a close contest 57-50.
Reidy Park took on West Gambier in a nail-biting match-up and all players had their eyes on the ball with, West Gambier taking away the win by only a single game, 56-55.
Tennis will resume on January 28 with Round 11 where the first Division 1 matchups are Uniting v West Gambier, Mount Schank v Centrals/Uniting/Gambier, and Glencoe v Reidy Park.
At the half-way point of the season it looks like it is shaping up to be quite an exciting run to finals.
