Remix finds new fans

South East singer Tamara Seeley has released the official remix of her debut single ‘Release Me’ to celebrate the song’s 10 year anniversary.

‘Release Me – The Remix’ is a stripped back version that transforms the original into an emotive and heart wrenching pop ballad.

The vocalist said the song is inspired by heartbreak and tells the story of a past flame having a painful and very real hold over your heart.

“This is a universal pain that so many people can unfortunately relate to,” she said.

“I just found that it really did resonate with a lot of people.

“My goal as an artist is to write music that people can connect with.”

Tamara worked with local creatives to film a new music video in Victorian homestead Yallum Park which was built in 1880 and is located near Penola.

Collaborators included Kinship Productions, RT Images, Amy Agnew Portraits, Katie Fox Hair and Make Up, A’EL ESTE and Ailie Collins, as well as Tamara who self-directed the video.

“I love that we have so many creative and talented people living on the Limestone Coast,” Tamara said.

“We do not have to go to the city to source those talents, they are right here in our backyard.

“Yallum Park has always been on my radar.

“You just feel the magic there and the rich history, an old beautiful Victorian mansion that has got all the old historic furniture, original wallpapers, a grand staircase and beautiful stained glass windows.

“It is just so stunning, I am so grateful for the opportunity to film my music video there.

“It is very different to the original video.”

Tamara said the power ballad has transported her back to her musical roots.

“When I first started singing, I was singing Tina Arena, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey,” she said.

“I have always liked that style, I am a huge lover of a good power ballad, emotive sad songs.

“When someone is willing to be vulnerable, I really love music like that, and I think you can hear that in this version.”

Tamara wrote ‘Release Me’ when she was living in Doha in the Middle East and performing on the international cover band circuit.

She said she has been overwhelmed with the response from both locally and further abroad.

“The response has been amazing because you never know how it is going to go and because it is a song I have released before,” she said.

“That is just the beauty of the internet now as well, yes you have your local supporters, but you also have people from away that can listen to your music.

“I think is it really nice to revisit my first single that I ever released to see how far I have come in this fast-paced society.

“I posted some old photos of the behind the scenes to that (original video) and a few of the people that I worked with back then reached out, so it has been really nice to rekindle that relationship and to be proud of the journey instead of just always looking ahead to what is next.

“The sky is the limit with music, I have collaborated on a dance track, I have performed in rock bands, I did backing vocals for Right Said Fred, I enjoy being versatile and not just staying in one lane.”
