The Robe District Council has appointed just its third female leader in its 153-year history.
Incoming councillor Lisa Ruffell was elected as the Deputy Mayor at the first council meeting of the new term last week.
Cr Ruffell will also serve as Acting Robe Mayor as there were no nominations at this month’s four-yearly election.
A supplementary election will now be held with a new mayor not taking up office at the seaside until well into 2023.
One of the first tasks of Cr Ruffell was to welcome State Opposition Leader David Spiers to Robe on the following morning as part of his whistlestop tour of the region.
