Robe veteran claims Penola prize

Penola hosted a competitive round of SE Veterans Golf in sunny conditions, attracting 78 players.

The field included four visitors from Glenelg.

Robe’s Greg Sinclair won First Division with 38 points, from Heywood’s Kerry Scales 37 and Millicent’s Mark Pilmore 34.

Second Division was won by local Trev Williams with 38 points from Mount Gambier’s John Kirby 34 and Beachport’s Ian Telfer 33.

The Ross Orchard trophy went to Peter Edwards and Herman Van Der Heul and 28 points were needed to receive a ball.

The nearest the pins went to Peter Ewer, Geoff Bond and Ben Young.

The competition will move to Beachport on October 23 followed by Bordertown on November 6.
