The Kongorong Football Club has looked within and promoted Matt Roscow to be its head coach for the 2025 season.
Roscow spent the past season as a non-playing coach. He succeeds playing coach Cameron Sandercock who spent two seasons at the helm of the Hawks.
Renowned as a tough as nails defender, Roscow played in the three leagues in this region.
His past clubs were East Gambier (Western Border), Padthaway (Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara) and Port MacDonnell (Mid South East).
His late grandfather Peter Mansell was barely into his teens when he first pulled on a jumper for the now-defunct Tarpeena Football Club in 1958.
There were no colts teams in those days but just A and B Grade.
There was an unofficial colts grade formed in 1958 and he played in that team that went top.
The Tarpeena side would all travel to games in the back of a truck.
In all, Mansell played 668 games in his career which lasted until 1996.
He had one season away from Tarpeena when he played with Penola in the Western Border Football League.
His surviving brothers Ken and Dennis are also Tarpeena legends and MSEFL life members.
They donate the Mansell Medal each year as the best and fairest player in the MSEFL junior colts competition.
