Safety alert for city students

Mount Gambier Police have issued a safety alert following local students being approached by unknown adults at a city high school.

Following the incidents Grant High School principal Caroline Davey sent a letter to parents alerting them to the situation.

“The police have issued a safety alert after local students disclosed they had been approached by unknown adults in separate incidents,” Ms Davey said.

“If your child tells you they have had a similar experience, or if you have any information about a specific incident, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.

“Our school is in contact with police community liaison officers to ensure we stay up to date with developments.

“Teachers have also been encouraged to talk to students about how to stay safe in public places.

“You might like to reinforce this message at home.”

This follows an incident a month ago when a young student was approached on the Mulga Street Primary School oval by an unknown man, who spoke to her from the footpath of Mulga Street and suggested she leave the school with him.
