Safety includes mental health mindfulness

As a company that prioritises safety in every aspect of its work, I&D Contracting recognise that mental health is a critical component of overall wellbeing.

At I&D, the team is committed to fostering a supportive work environment where every team member feels valued, heard, and cared for.

R U OK? Day is an opportunity to reinforce this commitment by encouraging open conversations about mental health.

It’s a reminder that we are all in this together, and that asking a simple question can sometimes be the first step in helping someone find the support they need.

The I&D team, which includes staff from diverse backgrounds and roles, faces various challenges daily.

Whether it’s the high-stress environment of managing traffic, the physical demands of the job, or personal issues outside of work, our people often carry a heavy load.

The group’s monthly ToolBox meeting will provide an opportunity to focus on mental health and highlight the R U OK? Day message.

It’s about checking in with each other and starting conversations that could make a real difference.

The nature of work in traffic management can be stressful, and it’s essential to look out for one another, not just in terms of physical safety but emotional wellbeing too.

Just as physical safety is crucial, mental health is equally important. A healthy mind ensures a safe and effective workplace.

R U OK? Day is just one day, but the conversation does not end here. We encourage ongoing communication and support throughout the year.

The I&D Group of companies was founded in 2012 by Daryl and Irma Prunnell, who have over 30 years of experience in civil construction, forestry, and government agencies.

Since then, the I&D Group has expanded to include I&D Contracting, I&D Vegetation, and I&D Traffic Management.

I&D Traffic Management is based in Mount Gambier and delivers our complete range of traffic management services throughout South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory.

Prior to founding the I&D Group, Daryl and Irma both worked as Safety, Environment, and Quality managers in construction sectors across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

I&D Traffic management is now at a new location and can be found at Shed 3, 9 Dunning Court, Mount Gambier.

“We’re still offering the same reliable traffic management solutions, just from a new address,” the group said.
