Safety standards met

Boneham Aged Care Services in Millicent has now met all 42 standards set by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Assessors visited the Williams Road facility in March and awarded it the maximum three years of accreditation.

They also found one of the administrative standards was not met and it related to annual staff appraisals.

Boneham had suspended such appraisals due to time and safety constraints during the COVID outbreaks last year.

At the time, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission accepted the Boneham plan to bring this standard back into compliance by June 30 of this year.

Boneham chief executive Michael Filsell said Commission assessors had recently conducted another unannounced visit to the aged care facility.

“They checked our progress on the not-met Human Resources criteria that stemmed from our three-yearly accreditation visit,” Mr Filsell said.

“We are very happy to advise they now consider us to have met that criteria and we are therefore 100% compliant with our quality standard obligations.

“We thank our staff and management team for working so hard over three months to clear this not-met criteria so quickly.”
