Saints dream team reunites

Nangwarry Football Club recently celebrated the 30 year reunion of its 1993 premiership, which kicked off a very successful decade for the club.

Nangwarry Football Club was a powerhouse in the 1990s, winning premierships in 1993, 1994,1997 and 1999.

The reunion was held at Nangwarry’s home ground on round one of the Mid South East season and was organised by Trevor Fenn, Graham Harris and Graham Hill.

Fenn said it was great to get the past premiership players together to celebrate.

“It is good to catch up with past players and see how they are going, you have a beer and chat and just talk about old times,” he said.

“They can sit there and have a chat about the past and still enjoy a day of footy as well.”

Fenn played in all four premierships and the teams over the premiership years were a mix of locals and great recruits.

“A lot of it was built around the local lads around the township, in 1993 I think three quarters of the side were from Nangwarry itself,” he said.

“In 1994 we recruited a few, 1997 was the same, and 1999 we had a blend of players as well.”

The premiership flags grace the walls of the Nangwarry clubrooms once again and Fenn was extremely pleased with the flags being on display again.

“They look marvellous, it has been a long time coming, it is so good to see them put up there for the first game of the year and for the 30 year reunion, it was really good to see them back up where they belong,” he said.

“It is starting to feel like a club again.

“To see the flags back up there is very pleasing to see.”

Fenn said there would be another reunion held next year and was feeling positive about the season ahead.

“I think the present side is heading in the right direction and hopefully we will see a few more wins on the board this year,” he said.
