Mount Gambier’s South Eastern Hotel has raised $27,363 for community organisations, all through donations from its crowd-pleasing schnitzel nights. Occurring every Tuesday for at least the last two years, the South Eastern Hotel’s schnitzel nights are an invitation for sports and social clubs, schools and community clubs to receive donations.
With $5 from every schnitzel sold across the entire venue fundraised for whichever club has “booked-in” to receive donations, the South Eastern has raised $25,000 in total, to-date. In addition, the schnitzels are locally-sourced or made in-house. Venue manager Linda Boylan said the inspiration for the community fundraiser was to give back to the region.
“This is for the community and to value them as clients by giving back for what we get out of them,” Ms Boylan told The SE Voice. “We’re trying to make this more of a family-friendly, community environment.”
Ms Boylan added the South Eastern Hotel had raised more than $15,000 this financial year.
