School holiday program goes Full Throttle in Wattle

Veteran councillor Dale Price recently opened the gates of his Glencoe sheep stud as part of the innovative “Full Throttle in Wattle” school holiday program held by Wattle Range Council.

Cr Price runs the Majardah Poll Dorset and White Suffolk enterprise with members of his immediate family.

They welcomed a bus load of youngsters from Millicent who were receiving a close-up look at the vital rural industry.

Members of the Price family explained their preparation for the stud’s annual sale of 160 rams which took place recently.

Later in the day, the holidaying youngsters were bussed back to Millicent to view a fortnightly cattle sale at the council-operated saleyards.

Their host was saleyards manager Andrew Robinson.

Meanwhile, much of the “Full Throttle in Wattle” program had to be cancelled owing to the COVID-related restrictions.
