Sculptor shares Australian story

An ABC television film crew visited Penola recently to take footage for a documentary on the life of local sculptor Guy Detot.

Mr Detot said it is planned to make the documentary as part of the Australian Stories series.

He was born in Paris in 1953 and his life has included dancing, choreographing and directing dance all over the world, rubbing shoulders with many famous people.

Some 30 years ago he moved to Penola and has been in his gallery ‘Le Max’ for 27 years, where he spends all of his time making sculptures.

The ABC team of Carolyn Corkindale, Bonnie Paku and Caroline Rowe filmed footage at the Le Max Gallery, the abortorium at Greenrise and Café Lito.

As part of the coming Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival Mr Detot will host guest artist Diana Ellinger who will be painting in the gallery.
